Ah, the versatile "little black dress." Long, short, full or fitted-there are no rules for what rules this season. Versace did a classic low scoop neck model and Moschino wowed with rhinestone-studded sheer chiffon. Got multiple soirees to crash? Slip a pair of black pants underneath a sheath and use it as a tunic (Katayone Adeli, Prada, Balenciaga and Helmut Lang all love this look). Or check out Nicole Miller. Pair a sweeping strapless gown with a sexy, strappy sandal and an electric pashmina for one bash, then do the demure thing in a cashmere cardigan for the next.

'Tis the season to sparkle like mad-and nothing carries you through weeks of whooping it up like a beaded or metallic evening bag. From vintage floral beadwork to twinkling fringe, ornate is great. Fendi's beaded baguette is still the fashionista's first pick. Metallic leather-from platinum to pewter, gold, silver or copper-dazzles at the office soiree. Snap up a satin clutch, perhaps festooned with a rhinestone buckle, to take you from boardroom to ballroom without ever being boring. To outshine the competition-I mean, other party-goers-Valentino, Gucci and Jamin Puech have megawatt holiday style in the bag.

Blame it on Sex in the City: What Michael Jordan did for the sneaker, Carrie Bradshaw is doing for the skinny heel. Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Giuseppe Zanotti, Richard Tyler, Vera Wang and Sergio Rossi all went on a slender bender. If you like spikes, you'll find them propping up mules, boots, classic slingbacks and ankle strap sandals. Try Christian Louboutin if comfort is key, or Stuart Weitzman for saving dough. Slim heels are safe with a wide pant, sultry with a skinny mini, flirtatious with a swing skirt. Add a little extra kick with gold or beaded heels.

Get your precious self a precious stone this Kwanza/Christmas/Hanukkah/Thursday. Picture your wrist wrapped in a line of diamonds, a few carats dangling from your earlobes (diamond studs) or a flawless solitaire on your finger. Spotlight the collarbone with a Cartier or Bulgari eternity necklace-three diamonds on a chain representing past, present and future. Go for subtle sparkle in a pearl-and-diamond lariat or a delicate cross pendant. A diamond studded watch (new or antique). The latest craze in the diamond biz is fabulous, kaleidoscopic color: yellow, black, cognac, blue and green. Remember, it's not an impulse buy-it's an investment. Huge difference.

Please Your Inner Fashion Guru for the Holidays

I try to keep my Holiday shopping simple and basic. And, doing it eBay for the holidays is as easy as clicking: Buy it Now!! For those who want to keep me smiling or for those who want me to make them smile in 2003, my top trends are these:

Cashmere… anything cashmere… pants or sweat pants at Tse or Ralph Lauren. Sweaters from Donna Karan, Michael Kors or Calvin Klein. Coats from Jil Sander or Armani, snuggly blankets from Malo or Banana Republic.

Something leather or suede or something leather and suede! Jackets from Dolce and Gabanna or Valentino ( I love the ones that are part leather and part suede), pants from Versus, Emporio Armani or Tommy Hilfiger, boots from Jimmy Choo, J.P. Tod's or Sergio Rossi.

Jewelry says something, but add diamonds and they scream something to me… Happiness!! It's not always about the name…though Tiffany, Bulgari, Cartier and Rolex ring my bells. But any ring or simple band on a beautiful setting does the trick. Don't underestimate the 14 or 18 karat gold chain (let's face it, I like platinum too) for the wrist or neck to brighten every gloomy winter day. Add a pendant to make it a statement piece. A great watch for those of you who want to be on time. For me, it's just a collector's piece (of course). Even a pin in just the right place (in the hair, on a purse, on a sweater or suit.)

Accessories for Men and Women - bags, belts, hats, and scarves - the fashion must have, must get, or must give of the season. From Marc Jacobs to Kate Spade, Kenneth Cole or Ferragamo.

Vintage - A small word for a small world of goodies: designer duds from Isaac Mizrahi to YSL, or estate jewels like pendants, earrings, watches or pins given this year will easily assure a prime spot on my list next year. And, if your loved ones let you down, bid on it yourself. Be independent! If you can't give it to yourself, you can you give to….ME!

Prada (darling) - from bags to shoes, sweaters to wallets, belts to key chains, nothing says star-style like Prada. The best array of fabrics: silk, cashmere, cottons, silk and more. For those with a fashion sweet tooth, try Miu Miu. Same chic house just different.

Versace - Donatella does it all. Sunglasses and perfumes (Versus Time for Pleasure, Versus Time for Energy, Versus Time to Relax, Red Jeans, Blue Jeans, Baby Blue Jeans, Metal Jeans for Women, Essence Exciting, Essence Ethereal, and Essence Emotional), coats and shoes. And, for those on the funkier side: try Versus.

Marc Jacobs/ Louis Vuitton - uptown, downtown, on the continent (Europe of course) or stateside (America the beautiful) our New York hometown boy has conquered the fashion world with both of these houses. Which is best? I'll let you decide. To live in style, his bags and sweaters (supermodel favorites) are legendary, his perfumes are as sweet as he is, and his coats and shoes will easily keep you a step ahead of your average fashion fanatics. Lest we forget his little label for less, Marc by Marc Jacobs, as it has all the cache, just not the big price tag.

Giorgio Armani (mi amore) - the man who turned Richard Gere into an American Gigilo in the 70's has been turning heads on the red carpet way before other designers could even say Jodie (Foster), Michelle (Pfeiffer) or Faye (Dunaway). The true American Renaissance man gives you rough and rugged but stylish and sexy leathers, innovative and plush sweaters, eclectic jewelry, sleek modern bags, agendas, scarves, wraps and sunglasses leaving no stone unturned.

Gucci - to think it all seemed to start with classic shoes (the loafer) and has expanded into an empire. The bags, the luggage, the watches…the choice of every jet setter from every port of call even if you are on the subway or even if it's a bus stop. The richest and softest silks and cottons, velvets and cashmeres, and techno fabrics. The house of Gucci has something for everyone everywhere.

It's not the gift, but the thought that counts was obviously some antiquated idea theorized by some cheap Scrooge or Grinch that only bought retail and was clueless to all the great finds here on eBay. Luckily, that's not us. I hope these ideas make your holiday shopping a little easier and a lot more successful and obviously more stylish.

Holiday Gift Giving Safety Advisory

If you're scared to ask someone's size, you can't figure out what colors are "in" or would look good or you've just bought all the best eBay fashion finds for your friends, family, colleagues or for yourself…try beauty products. Perfume for women, cologne for men, creams, lotions or even candles (solo or as gift sets) from all the biggest brands from around the globe-right to your door. Dior, Chanel, Lancome, La Mer are perfect under the tree.

Now that that's done, I might just order some relaxing bath salts and a scented candle just for me, so I can relax between holiday parties. OH NO!! Before I relax maybe I better order some home exercise equipment…a stationary bike, AbMaster, free weights or fitness ball to work off those extra holiday calories so I can fit into my new clothes for New Year's Eve. I've got a party to go to!

I hope these ideas make your holiday shopping a little easier and a lot more successful and obviously more stylish. If my name dropping fashion friends are not enough, here is a few more from around the world that can help out… Helmut Lang, Chloe, Yohji Yamamoto, Dries van Noten, Alexander McQueen and Valentino. As you know, they are all creative so I am sure they will have lots of gift ideas for you.

Ho Ho Ho and Happy Holidays! And remember just like Santa you may not think I will be there to check you out during these holiday festivities, but someone else might be… someone who is a lot cuter and definitely eligible. So dress to impress! Always be your best and always be yourself. Don't drink and drive and most of all enjoy! These are the days of your lives.
