 Phillip's Fashion Fabulosities

Dear Diary,

After a hectic week of prepping for the Emmy's, I arrived in NY for a week filled with fashion shows, paparazzi, interviews, tons of celebs and new sexy-feminine clothing. I spent the morning at various fashion shows and then escaped for a little while to do some voice-overs for the "E" segments I was working on. After the session, I jumped in a cab, sped uptown to pick up my friend, Lauren Holly, and headed back down to the tents on 42nd St. to see some more shows.

It was only the afternoon and I was already in my 4th outfit of the day. I was pooped and starved, dragging goody bags filled with lip liner, shampoo and conditioner, hair remover (who says we don't get great perks in fashion?), as Lauren and I were whisked out of the car, through the blur of paparazzi flash bulbs, into the special back stage VIP room hosted by Vogue and eBay. After allowing myself a minute to chill, I hurried back to E! to air live. I made it back to the tent in 20 minutes, only to find Lauren hanging with my favorite mother and daughter team - Beyoncé and Tina Knowles. Considering "Crazy in Love" had been my alter ego's theme song for months, I threw myself to the ground and performed my own version of the song for her. Everyone was amused, especially Beyoncé, and I promised to show her how to do it (she still has not called me for that advice, huh…) Ooops too much fun. We slid out into the dark for the beginning of the BCBG show. To my right were Lauren, Beyoncé and Tina. To my left were Aisha Tyler, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, and the Vivica A. Fox and Sarah Michelle Gellar. That's a pretty glam front row…Pop Pop Pop went the flashbulbs and we were soon transported back to a very funky spring day in the 20's. BCBG's collection was soft, flowy and very feminine. Colors and patterns were strong but not overpowering. Sort of a roaring 20's fused with sexy short-shorts and swinging minis theme. At the post-show party, we danced and ate and laughed and celebrated until my Sergio Rossi clad feet could party no more…
I awoke Tuesday morning in need of fashion mileage. I threw together several looks with various alternatives to make several outfits from just a slight change of a hat or shirt. I sprung from show to show - Bill Blass to Peter Som to Badgley Mischka, whose uber-luxurious gowns have bedazzled and dazzled on every celeb in Hollywood. Beyoncé had already picked out her premiere gown for the Fighting Temptations and I added several 20's and 50's inspired looks to my repertoire.

At 4:00 we all packed into Catherine Malandrino's show at the tents. Among the crowd was the very sexy Lenny Kravitz looking grrrreat as ever. About 2 weeks before I had dinner with Catherine and her husband Bernard on Manhattan's Upper West Side, so I was already titillated by her concept of smoke as an element of architectural design. Her clothes floated down the runway as though they were suspended. Like smoke, her high waist pants and tight obi sashes had shine and flashes of color.

At 6:00 I headed down to the trendy meat packing district where hoards of Prada, Gucci wearin' fashion fanatics shoved their way through 2 tiny doors, into a room the size of a freight elevator. I found my friend Sarah Wynter and grabbed a front row seat across from my heroes, André Leon Talley and Anna Wintour of Vogue. Turned out Sarah was dying to meet André. Once again I foresaw the blooming of a great fashion connection. We loved the sheer sweaters, fitted shirts and welcomed in the reign of the new designer/successor, handpicked by Calvin -- Francisco Costa.

I enjoyed the fresh air as I walked and changed outfits yet again. By then I'd lost count but knew that at least the photographers would get a new look. If I don't give 'em style who will?

Although you didn't get to see Julianna Margulies or Stephanie Seymour while I did more interviews for E! and you didn't get to come backstage and interview Narciso with me, you got to sit home in your underwear and order your own favorite, right-off-the-runway Narciso looks on eBay. You get the best of both worlds -- a trunk show in your home...

Wednesday morning I ran off to one of my favorite shows, Michael Kors, with one of my favorite girls, Joan Kors, the designer's mom. This was an upbeat show with the best models. Michael remains the king of sleek simple luxurious elegance. His chiffon goddess-like gowns will definitely be a favorite of stars who pose for paparazzi like those in the front row, Jessica Simpson of MTV's Newlyweds (our newest guilty TV pleasure) and Brooke Shields, a new mom and always a style icon.

I made a quick change into my 2nd look for the day and headed off to the afternoon shows, Nanette Lepore and Anna Sui.

Well, it's hard to believe with all we've seen we missed anything but we did...Ralph Lauren's world of lifestyle fashion was vibrant, Lilly Pulitzer preppy looks that make us yearn for days on Cape Cod and nights at Martha's Vineyard and Marc Jacobs 20's/juke joint girls with flowers, slits, ruffles and lots of flow were sexy fun and flirty with that mark edge that gives it a Janis Joplin Rock and Roll feel more then flirty flapper.

Well we've done it together here on eBay . We have survived Hurricane and fashion week in NY. By this point I couldn't digest another dress. I couldn't touch more chiffon or satin and by no means could I push through another crowd. Well not until tomorrow night back home in LA for Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmy party. May the fashion madness never end.
