Why is PayPal no longer processing adult payments in eBay's Mature Audience category?
PayPal continually reviews its policies to ensure it is striking the right balance between serving the needs of its customers and minimizing financial and other risks related to its business environment. After reassessing the Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal has determined that presenting a clear and consistent policy for adult transactions everywhere on the Internet best achieves this balance.
Why is PayPal making this change now?
We heard from some members who felt the policy was confusing. After reassessing it, we decided that it made sense to make the policy consistent across the board. As a result, after June 12, PayPal will no longer process transactions for adult items regardless of where on the Internet they are offered.
Why is PayPal making decisions about eBay policy?
This is a PayPal decision about PayPal's business. While owned by eBay, PayPal is a separate business with different business needs. After reassessing its Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal decided that presenting a clear and consistent policy for adult transactions anywhere on the Internet, is best for the PayPal business.
