| How to Open Your Auction Floor to the Internet |
eBay Live Auctions is the easiest and most effective way to bring the Internet to your auction floor. Here's what you'll need to do to use the power of live Internet auctions to increase your sales:
Before the auction
List your catalog for millions to see
Let millions of eBay users browse and search lots in your upcoming sales. You can list an auction on the Live Auctions system months before the event - all you need is a digital picture and a detailed description of each lot. Better yet, we provide you with bulk upload tools that allow you to use existing files to easily transfer your catalog to the Internet. Accept online registrations on your own terms
Live Auctions allows you to set your own registration requirements for each sale. You can allow potential buyers to sign up online by placing a valid credit card on file or by passing a strict ID verification process with eBay's partner Equifax. You can also request that you manually verify and approve all users before they are allowed to bid.
Collect Absentee Bids and see the highest one when your auction starts
After browsing and searching the catalogs, approved users can place absentee bids on any lot in the system. We will collect all absentee bids and share the highest Internet absentee bid amount with you at the start of the sale.
During the auction
Allow Internet users to bid live during the sale
Live Auctions are designed to work with your existing sales process. All you need is a computer terminal and a fast Internet connection (DSL, ISDN or faster) in the auction room. Your auction staff will input the floor bids on the computer terminal and call out the bids received in real time from the Internet. Users are able to see the current ask price and who the highest bidder is at all times.
After the auction
Contact winning Internet bidders and close the sale
At the end of the auction, you will receive a list of all winning Internet buyers - absentee and live bidders - along with their contact information. All you have to do is contact them to arrange payment and shipping. After the transaction is complete, you can come back and thank your customers by leaving a comment on eBay's Feedback Forum.
Fees
There are two types of Live Auction seller fees. First, there is a $1,500 insertion fee associated with listing a catalog. You can list up to 10,000 lots in each catalog. Second, there is a final value fee due only on lots sold to Internet bidders. This fee is calculated as 5% of the final sale price (not including the Buyer's Premium) for each successful lot.
That's it. Live Auctions is the simplest, most effective way to use Internet technology to grow your live sales.
