 How to Offer Service Plans
It's Easy to Offer Service Plans
x
  • We've made it very easy for you to offer a Standard or Extended Service Plan to your buyers. You simply take the HTML sniplets (cut-and-paste HTML code) we've provided below and insert them into your eBay item description and buyer emails - see examples.
  • The entire process takes less than a minute.
  • Buyers click on the links generated by the HTML sniplets to get more information and purchase a Service Plan.
  • You earn cash bonuses for Service Plans sold and increase your sales by attracting more bids and buyers. N.E.W. tracks your bonuses and pays you on a monthly basis via PayPal. Learn more about how your cash bonuses are paid.

(Note that due to state regulations, Service Plans are not available for sale or purchase in Maine, Alaska, Guam, or Puerto Rico.)

Inserting Your HTML Sniplets
x

1. Choose one of the sniplet options below. There are three options to choose from depending on where you plan to place the sniplet:

Sniplet Option Usage Guidelines

Sniplet Option Usage Guidelines
A. Graphic with Text HTML Link Use in item descriptions, HTML-enabled email systems, and any other HTML page such as your Checkout and AboutMe pages. (Both the image and graphic are generated automatically by the HTML code.)
B. Text-Only HTML Link Use in HTML-enabled email systems
C. Text-Only Link Use in text-only email systems

Promoting the Service Plan option in your listings indicates that you agree to have your email address provided to N.E.W. so that they can pay you your cash bonuses via PayPal. CA & FL Residents: By agreeing to promote this Service Plan, you become a member of the "N.E.W. Sellers Association," a free, no obligation membership.

2. Copy and paste the corresponding HTML code or plain text into your item description and buyer emails and if applicable, your AboutMe and Checkout pages.

Tips on How to Successfully Sell Service Plans
x

Use the "Graphic with Text" link in your item description
The "Graphic with Text HTML Link" option will be the most effective in your item descriptions.

Promote the links as prominently as possible
Whenever possible, promote the Service Plan as upfront and as high up as possible in your item descriptions and emails.

Promote the Service Plan to your buyers at several touch points
Promote the Service Plan to your buyers in as many touch points as possible including:
  • Item descriptions
  • Pre-sale emails (email responses to your buyers when they have questions)
  • Post-sale emails (End of Auction, Shipping Confirmation, standalone Service Plan promotion emails)
  • Checkout pages
  • AboutMe page
Promote the ability to extend an existing Service Plan
If your product comes with an existing warranty, promote the N.E.W. Extended Service Plan option as a way for your buyers to get additional product protection.
