Promotion boxes can be included on different pages throughout your Store to promote and advertise your items. These flexible, customizable displays can be used for a variety of purposes, such as highlighting featured items, announcing specials, or providing alternative ways for buyers to browse in your Store.

How to create promotion boxes

There are two ways to create and manage promotion boxes in your Store:

Using quick setup
For your convenience, you can use predesigned promotion boxes that will appear on all of your Store category pages. This is a quick way for you to learn about promotion boxes and set them up throughout your Store.

Creating and managing promotion boxes
You can easily create and view promotion boxes within your Store. Promotion boxes are grouped according to the type of page on which they appear. You can also duplicate existing promotion boxes, delete promotion boxes permanently, or simply make promotion boxes inactive. Inactive promotion boxes can be saved for future use whenever you specify a location for them.

Note: To insert a promotion box on a custom page, select a promotion box layout when you create the page.

Using a promotion box you’ve already created
You can include any promotion box you've already created, even if it is “inactive,” in your full HTML custom pages or any other place in your Store where you can insert HTML. Just use the following tag:  {eBayPromo id="promotion box administrative name"}.

• Near the top of each Store page (below the header and above the item list)
  
  Two promotion boxes can appear next to one another, or the spaces can be combined and used for a single, extra-wide promotion box.
  
  Note: If you are using Store categories or custom pages within your Store, you can display different promotion boxes on each of your Store category pages, custom pages, and your All Categories page. The same promotion boxes that you specify for a category will appear for all categories below it, unless you specify a different promotion box for those categories. If you are using eBay categories, instead of Store categories, the same two promotion boxes or the single, extra-wide promotion box (depending on your selection) will appear on every eBay category page.

• Below the left navigation bar
  
  Two promotion boxes—an upper and a lower—can appear in this area. Just as for promotion boxes that appear at the top of the page, you can customize those that appear in the left navigation bar at an individual page level. Similarly, any promotion box settings automatically carry down to all category pages organized below a higher level category, unless you specify different promotion boxes for the lower level category pages.

• Top left or top right
  - With border: 275w by 85h, or 120 characters
  - Without border: 280w by 115h, or 140 characters

• Single box across top
  - With border: 575w by 85h, or 215 characters
  - Without border: 580w by 115h, or 300 characters

• Below left navigation bar
  - With border: 170w by any height
  - Without border: 170w by any height

When you create a promotion box, you need to give it a unique name. This name will not be visible to buyers; it is simply to help you keep track of your promotion boxes.

The default colors for promotion boxes are based on the colors that you selected for your Store theme. However, you can customize these colors.
