Handling unpaid items

Didn't receive payment for an item you sold? If a couple of days have passed since the buyer has committed to buying your item, and you still haven’t been paid, you should contact the buyer. If the buyer tried to pay, you can check the payment status through PayPal or their other payment method. For more tips, see communicating with your trading partner.

If it's been more than 2 days since the item sold, you can open an unpaid item case.

To open an unpaid item case:
  1. Go to the Selling Manager Awaiting Payment view.

  2. Next to the unpaid item record, click Open Unpaid Item Case/Cancel Transaction from the drop-down menu.

Reporting unpaid items in bulk

With Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro, you can save time by opening unpaid item cases in bulk.

To open unpaid item cases in bulk:
  1. Click Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro from My eBay to see the Summary view.

  2. In the Sold (last 90 days) section, click Eligible for unpaid item case under "Resolution Center."

  3. Select the check boxes next to the listings you want to open unpaid item cases for.

  4. Click the Continue button.

  5. Select the reason for opening each unpaid item case. You can choose either The buyer has not paid for the item or We have both agreed not to complete the transaction. From the drop-down menu, you can also select a reason for not completing the transaction. For example: Buyer purchased item by mistake or changed mind, Buyer is returning item for a refund, Buyer and I disagreed over terms, etc.

  6. Click Submit.

Note:  You can view all unpaid items within the last 45 days. However, for items that ended more than 32 days ago, you can only choose the We have both agreed not to complete the transaction option.

Receiving final value fee credits

If it's been 4 or more days since you filed an unpaid item case and the buyer still has not paid, you can receive a final value fee credit. You are also eligible for a final value fee credit if the buyer agrees to cancel the transaction.

To see which listings are eligible for final value fee credits:
  1. Click Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro from My eBay to see the Summary view.

  2. In the Sold (last 90 days) section, click Eligible for final value fee credit under Resolution Center.
