Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro:  Listing and relisting items
In this article
In this article

Both Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro allow you to quickly relist items or create similar listings based on existing ones.

You can even assign rules for automatically relisting an item. For example, you can automatically relist an item once if it doesn't sell the first time.

The Inventory view in Selling Manager Pro offers additional features for listing products that you sell, including advanced features for automating the listing and relisting process. If you subscribe to Selling Manager Pro, we recommend that you review how inventory works.

If you don't use Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro, you can still relist your items, both manually and automatically. Learn more about relisting your item.

Creating new listings

If you have Selling Manager, you'll create your listings using either eBay's Sell Your Item form or another selling tool, such as Turbo Lister. Once you've created a listing, it will appear in your Active or Scheduled view, depending on its start time.

Selling Manager Pro subscribers:  You have additional inventory features for listing products based on listing templates.

Understanding the difference between "Sell Similar" and "Relist"

Although Sell Similar and Relist both create new listings based on existing ones, you might use them in different situations depending on your needs.

Selling feature

When to use

Sell Similar

Use when you have an existing listing that you want to make the "starting point" for a new listing.

  • Your new listing will be prefilled with the same text and options you selected before.

  • You can change the text and options to fit the item you're selling.

Relist

Use when you want to sell the same item again.

  • Your new listing will be prefilled with the same text and options you selected before.

  • Since you're selling an identical item, buyers who view the old listing will see a link indicating that the item has been relisted.

Tip: If the Relist icon (relist icon) next to the listing is grey, the listing is eligible for our free relist credit. Only the first relisting of an auction-style listing is eligible. Fixed-priced listings don't qualify for insertion fee credits.

Listing similar items

When you list a similar item, a copy of the listing appears in the Sell Your Item form. You can submit the new listing as-is, or make changes.

To list a similar item:
  1. Locate the listing in one of the Selling Manager views.

  2. From the Action drop-down menu, select Sell Similar.

  3. Review the details of the new listing.

  4. When you've finished making changes, click the List Your Item button.

To list multiple similar items at once:
  1. Locate the listings in your Sold or Unsold view.

  2. Select the check boxes of the listings you want to copy.

  3. Click the Sell Similar button located above or below your listings.

  4. Review the details of the new listings and make any changes you want.

  5. When you've finished making changes, click the Submit all button.

Relisting items

You can relist items from the Sold or Unsold view.

To relist a single item:
  1. Locate the listing in the Sold or Unsold view.

  2. From the Action drop-down menu to the right of the listing, select Relist.

To relist multiple items:
  1. In the Sold or Unsold view, select the checkboxes for the listings you want to relist.

  2. Click the Relist button, located above your sold or unsold listings.

  3. Click the Submit all button to have your new listings become active on the site.

Automatically relisting items

If your item doesn't sell, you can save time by automatically relisting it.

You can choose whether to:
  • Automatically relist an item once

  • Automatically relist an item continuously until it sells

When you automatically relist an item, regular listing fees apply.

To assign automation rules to listings:
  1. Locate the listings in the Active or Scheduled view.

  2. Select the checkboxes next to the listings.

  3. Click the Automation Rules button above the listings, and then select Assign.

  4. Select the rule you want to assign.

  5. Click the Assign button.

To remove an automation rule from a listing:
  1. Locate the listing in the Active or Scheduled view.

  2. Click the Automation Rules button above the listings, and then select Remove.

  3. On the next page, click the Remove Rule button.

Selling Manager Pro subscribers: You have additional options for automating your listings, including the ability to assign automation rules to listing templates. When you assign a rule to a listing template, all listings created from the template also have the rule assigned to them. If you need to remove the rule later on, remember to also remove it from the listing template.

Revising, rescheduling, or ending a listing

You can change a scheduled listing anytime before it becomes active. Once a listing is active, you can change it under certain conditions.
