Trading Assistants on eBay Motors
All members of the eBay Trading Assistant program are welcome to list items they own for sale on eBay Motors. However, if Trading Assistants list motor vehicles on eBay on behalf of others, using their own user ID, they must have a vehicle dealer license.
In addition to having a dealer license, Trading Assistants who list vehicles on behalf of other people, using their own user ID, can't charge a success fee for their services and can't communicate with bidders or control the flow of information between bidders and the owner of the vehicle.
Also, when selling vehicles for clients, Trading Assistants are responsible for the accuracy of the listing description.
If local laws allow, Trading Assistants can list items in the Parts & Accessories categories on eBay Motors without a vehicle dealer license.
Motor vehicle sales (especially across state lines) may carry higher legal liability than selling other merchandise on eBay. Because of this, we highly recommend that you check with your state Department of Transportation (DOT) to understand licensing and liability issues before offering your services as a Trading Assistant on eBay Motors.
