| PayPal PayPal is the preferred payment method for sellers and buyers on eBay. When you accept PayPal, the buyer can pay you instantly and securely online using a credit card or checking account. Safe: PayPal is an industry leader in online fraud prevention and protection. Listings that offer PayPal are 35% less likely to result in unpaid items than other listings. Buyers prefer PayPal because their financial information is secure. Fast: You can get paid faster than with a check or money order, enabling you to ship the item sooner and complete the sale. Easy: You can accept credit card and checking account payments online. The only information buyers need in order to send you a payment is your email address.
With PayPal you can also require Immediate Payment for Buy It Now items. You do not need a PayPal account to begin accepting PayPal. Select the "Accept credit card and bank account payments online" check box. Enter the email address where you want to be notified that you have received a payment. If the listing ends with a sale and the buyer sends you a payment through PayPal, you will be notified by email and asked to sign up for a PayPal account in a quick, one-time process. You can then transfer the money to your bank account, or spend it online at one of the thousands of merchants who accept PayPal.
PayPal is free for buyers, but sellers may be charged a fee for receiving a payment, depending on what kind of PayPal account they have. eBay recommends that you use a Premier or Business account when selling so that you can receive credit card payments.
