Reporting Misuse

Misusing the reviews and guides violation reporting function to maliciously or frivolously report reviews and guides that are in compliance with eBay policy is prohibited.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation
  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Loss of PowerSeller status
  • Account suspension

To report violations, please click the "Report this review" or "Report this guide" link located on the review or guide in question.

Some Examples

Prohibited actions include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting all guides within a category as non-compliant without reading the content of the guide.
  • Reporting the same guides or reviews multiple times because you don't agree with the subject matter or content, even though there is no violation of eBay policy.
  • Continually reporting product reviews that are critical of a product you sell or like even though there is no violation of eBay policy.

Why does eBay have this policy?

Misusing the reviews and guides violation reporting function to maliciously or frivolously report reviews and guides in compliance with eBay policy interferes with legitimate reports, and diminishes the effectiveness of the reporting tool. This undermines overall trust in the marketplace.
