Categorization of Guides

Guides must be listed in the appropriate category.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Review or guide cancellation
  • Listing cancellation
  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Loss of PowerSeller status
  • Account suspension

To report violations, please click the "Report this review" or "Report this guide" link located on the review or guide in question.

Some Examples 

The following are examples of guides that are not permitted on eBay:

  • A guide on tying fishing knots listed in a home and garden category
  • A guide on refinishing antique furniture listed in the consumer electronics category

Why does eBay have this policy? 

Categorizing guides in an inappropriate category results in a poor finding experience for members since incorrect categorization returns guides in which the member may have no interest.
