About PayPal Seller Protection
PayPal's Seller Protection Policy covers U.S. sellers against claims, chargebacks, and reversals for unauthorized payments and merchandise not received when transactions meet the terms of coverage. There is no coverage limit.
Important: PayPal Seller Protection does not provide protection for significantly not as described claims, chargebacks, or reversals or for items that you deliver in person. For complete information, go to the Seller Protection Policy.
To qualify, a seller must meet the following conditions:
Seller has a Verified Business or Premier account – The seller’s account must be attached to a bank account that’s confirmed through PayPal’s Verification process. When you are a Verified seller, you are more protected and you increase your credibility and appeal with buyers. Verifying your seller account is free and easy to do. Learn more about Verification.
U.S residence — The seller’s primary residence, as listed in the PayPal Account, must be in the United States.
Item is shipped to an eligible address — The item must be shipped to an eligible address. PayPal is continually working to increase the number of eligible buyer addresses. To determine shipping address eligibility, refer to the shipping address area of your Transaction Details page.
Item is a tangible good – Only physical goods are covered by the Seller Protection Policy. Intangible goods (services or items such as software, MP3s, or ebooks that are delivered electronically) are not covered.
Proof of delivery – A copy of the shipment record will be needed to file a claim. Always retain proof that the item was delivered to the address on the Transaction Details page. Acceptable proof of delivery varies by country. Please refer to the Seller Protection Policy for details.
Signature receipt for valuable items – For items with a value of US$250.00 or more, proof of signature from the recipient will be needed to show that the item was delivered to the buyer. Many carrier companies offer this as a proof of delivery service.
Item sent in a timely manner – To be covered, the item must be shipped within 7 days of receiving payment.
Note: PayPal Seller Protection for U.S. sellers applies to transactions that are shipped to over 190 countries where PayPal is accepted. Please see the Seller Protection Policy to learn more.
