Understanding a vehicle listing
In this article
In this article

There are different ways to find vehicles on eBay Motors. No matter how you find a vehicle you're interested in, you'll find a lot of information about it in the listing. The information has been organized to help you learn as much as you can about the vehicle before bidding on or buying it.

Finding a vehicle

Whether you search by keyword or browse categories, you can choose a shopping experience tailored to your needs.

  • Search when you want a quick, targeted search. Use keywords that best describe the vehicle you're looking for, including year, make, and model. Just use the Search box at the top of the eBay Motors home page. You can also use the Make and Model drop-down menus on the eBay Motors home page.

  • Browse when you're not exactly sure what you're looking for or when you just want to explore the range of vehicles on eBay Motors. To browse, use the Browse by type menu on the home page or use the category menus at the top of any page.

To get more detailed information on searching and browsing visit the Find Vehicles section of How to Buy a Vehicle, a step-by-step tutorial on buying a vehicle on eBay Motors.

Using vehicle listing tabs

Description tab
This tab is the default on the vehicle listing page. The section under the vehicle heading includes general information about the vehicle including:

  • Title, Mileage, and Location

  • History, Warranty, and Condition

  • Features

This section also includes the photos the seller took of the vehicle and the description of the vehicle in the seller's own words.

Vehicle History Report
The Vehicle History Report tab lets you view the vehicle's history report. Many vehicles on eBay Motors include a vehicle history report from AutoCheck, which gives you instant access to important details about used cars.

Shipping tab
This section includes pick-up and shipping information that the seller has provided. It's standard practice on eBay Motors for the buyer to make the arrangements and pay the costs associated with picking up (by flying or driving) or shipping the vehicle. You should also check the seller’s description to see if there are any shipping options offered by the seller.

Note: The Shipping tab does not appear on Classified Ad listings.

Shipping quotes from a number of auto shippers are provided to eBay Motors through GigaMoves. Estimated quotes based on your location and the vehicle's location are provided. To get a more detailed quote, click the Get custom quotes button.

You can get more information in eBay's Motors Shipping Center.

Payment tab
This section includes the seller's payment instructions, payment methods accepted, and information about when full payment for the vehicle is due.

If you're interested in a loan, you can calculate monthly payments and get current interest rates in the Financing section. To calculate monthly payments for a specific vehicle, click the Estimate Monthly Payments link. To get matched to a financing company, enter the amount you want to finance, select your state of residence, and then click the Continue button.

Offers and bids on vehicles are non-binding. However, you shouldn't bid unless you intend to complete the purchase. Read Your User Agreement for details.

Get more information in the Financing Center.

Knowing your seller

Getting to know your seller is just as important as learning about the vehicle you're interested in. Use the information that appears in the top right of the vehicle listing page to learn about your seller.

Seller info – Check the seller's Feedback score and Feedback comments.

Ask a question – It's important to contact the seller and have your questions answered to your satisfaction before you make an offer or bid on a vehicle.
