Delivery and pickup options

Free in-store pickup

In some locations, local stores offer free in-store pickup of certain items you can buy on eBay. You save on shipping costs and won't have to wait for the item to be shipped to you.

How it works

  • Find an item you'd like to buy from a participating store. If the item is available for in-store pickup in your area, you see the free in-store pickup information in the shipping section of the listing.

  • Find and select a store location.

  • Purchase your item on eBay. We'll send an email with instructions on when and how to pick up your item at the selected store, and the store will let you know when your item is ready for pickup.

  • You must pick up your item yourself and show your ID at the store. You can't send a friend or family member to pick up your item for you.

Returning an item you picked up in the store

If you want to return an item you got from a store with free in-store pickup, take the item back to the store (you can return the item to any store location).

Return conditions:

  • You purchased the item using free in-store pickup.

  • The item falls within the store's return and exchange policy.

The store credits the refund to your PayPal or credit card account. The store may also offer you store credit.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Bring your confirmation of purchase with you when you return an item to the store.

  • The store usually credits your refund to your PayPal or credit card account within 48 hours.

  • Some sellers may issue you in-store credit for a return. Read and understand the store's return policy before making a purchase.

Canceling a transaction before you've picked up the item

You can cancel an item you're purchasing with free in-store pickup if the item is still in the order is processing status. If you need to cancel a transaction before you've picked up your item at your selected store, you can do so in My eBay.

To cancel a free in-store pickup transaction in My eBay:
  1. Go to My eBay > Purchases.

  2. Select the item.

  3. Confirm that the order is in order is processing status.

  4. From the More actions drop-down menu, select Request to cancel.

  5. Follow the instructions.

You can also cancel the transaction from the View order details page.

Things to keep in mind:

  • We send you a notification when the transaction has been successfully canceled.

  • The store credits your refund to your PayPal or credit card account.

  • You won't be able to leave the seller Feedback for a canceled transaction.

Local pickup

Sellers who don't want to ship large, heavy, or fragile items, or who would simply prefer not to ship an item, can offer a local pickup option.

Items listed with Local Pickup as the shipping option appear in search results along with items offering other shipping options, no matter where you or the item is located. Read the listing carefully to determine the location of the item and the shipping or local pickup options the seller offers.

In addition to PayPal or a credit card, you can sometimes use a check, money order, or bank wire transfer to purchase a local pickup item, as specified by the seller in the listing. For more information, see the accepted payments policy.

Returning an item you purchased with local pickup

If you want to return an item you originally purchased using local pickup, work with the seller to find a way to get the item back to the seller safely. Read and understand the return policy in the listing before making your purchase.
