Digital Item

A digital item is a computer file or special information that you can access online or have delivered electronically. For example, you might buy an MP3 file of a song (that the seller is legally authorized to sell) and download it to your computer. Or, you might buy an original dessert recipe and receive it from the seller in an email message.

Before you commit to the buy the item, read the listing carefully to determine whether the item is right for you. For example, check the “File type and requirements” section to make sure that you can use the item on your computer system and software.

Purchasing a digital item

Once you decide to buy a digital item, click the Buy It Now button in the listing. You’ll be required to pay the seller immediately using PayPal, which enables you to send payments quickly and securely online using a credit card or bank account.

After you complete your payment, you’ll receive the seller’s instructions for obtaining or receiving the item. For example, the seller might provide a Web address (URL) where you can go to download the file. Or, the seller might ask you to provide an email address and send the item to you in an email.

Important: Like other non-physical items, digital items are not covered by the eBay Standard Protection Program or the PayPal Buyer Protection Program.
