Why was my account suspended?

There are 2 reasons why an account may be suspended:

  • Serious violations of eBay's rules and policies

  • Non-payment of eBay fees (often resolved by updating your credit card or debit card information)

If your account is suspended, we'll send a notification to your messages in My eBay. The notification includes the reason for your account suspension and the steps you can take to resolve the suspension.

To view your messages in My eBay:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages.

  2. Click the Messages tab.

As with all our messages, we'll also send a copy to the email address we have on file for your account. Learn more about suspended accounts.

What happened?

What to do

My account was suspended because of a rules and policies violation.

Appeal your suspension by replying directly to the suspension notice you received. Be sure to include any relevant information.

My account was suspended because I didn't pay my eBay fees.

Make a onetime payment on your eBay seller account to reinstate your account.

My account was suspended because I didn't reimburse eBay for a refund eBay made to one or more buyers.

Set up or update a reimbursement payment method under the Financial Information section on the Personal Information page in My eBay. Click the Add or Edit link to the right of Reimbursement payment method and follow the onscreen instructions. You may be asked to sign in.

I tried to update my credit card information and got an error message.

Contact us and we'll help resolve the situation as quickly as we can.

I don't know why I was suspended.

Contact us and we'll help resolve the situation as quickly as we can.

Beware of fake account suspension notices

Watch out for spoof (fake) email warnings about account suspension. To confirm that an email was sent from eBay, check your messages in My eBay. If you can't find the same email you received at your regular address in your inbox in My eBay Messages, it's not from eBay.
