Protecting your privacy
At eBay we're concerned about protecting your privacy. Our User Privacy Notice outlines limitations on the use of your contact information. We don't sell or disclose your information for marketing purposes. The following is a summary of our User Privacy Notice and related policies. If you have questions about any part of this summary, or if you'd like more detailed information, we encourage you to review our full User Privacy Notice.
Limitations on member-to-member contact
We'll share your personal information with other eBay members only to facilitate transactions and to allow members to contact you.
When you register at eBay, you provide your basic contact information, including name, address, and phone number. Be sure to update your contact information (including email address) immediately if they ever change.
Email addresses are only disclosed to members involved in an eBay transaction. Although members can contact one another through the Contact
member feature, this feature should be used only to facilitate a transaction. We’ll investigate reports of members misusing our member-to-member contact options.
Limitations on disclosure to third parties
We won't sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes and will only disclose your personal information in accordance with our User Privacy Notice or with your explicit consent.
Third parties are not permitted to sell the information we provide to them, to market directly to you, or to disclose it in any other way without your explicit consent.
We'll share your personal information with Internet service providers (ISPs) involving our operations only to facilitate or outsource an eBay service or operation when absolutely necessary and under confidential restrictions.
Other eBay companies that have access to your personal information in accordance with the policy are required to protect your personal information at least as strictly as eBay does.
We disclose limited personal contact information to verified requests by law enforcement and government officials who conduct criminal investigations. We require a subpoena for additional personal information, in accordance with our User Privacy Notice.
Safeguarding user IDs
We safeguard your user ID by limiting how a listing's bid history is displayed to members. When you bid on an item, other members can't view your user ID on the Bid History page. Your user ID is shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Bidders are assigned anonymous names which are used consistently throughout the bid history for an item.
Other ways we help protect your privacy
To help safeguard your privacy, we also provide:
Choices about how you wish to be contacted in the Preferences section of My eBay.

Convenient ways to change your personal information, so you can keep it up to date.
Safe, secure technology and other privacy protection programs to help keep your personal information secure on eBay. Your information is stored and processed on computers located in the United States.
Technical and procedural safeguards, including firewalls, encryption, and secure socket layers (SSL) to protect your personal information against loss or theft, as well as from unauthorized access and disclosure. We employ many different security techniques to safeguard such data from unauthorized access by users inside and outside the company.
Secure communication for all external parties—including customers, vendors, and any business partners outside of eBay—by monitoring every email message, except in countries that have laws prohibiting monitoring of email. If an email contains private information, it will be encrypted through our eBay Secured Email system.
