Access your business onsite
To help you get the greatest possible value out of your leap into eBay Live!, we want to help you run your business even while you're away from home. Be sure to block out some time for yourself to handle your own business. We'll do our part:
  • We'll provide computer terminals to check your auctions and email throughout the convention center so you can keep in touch with your buyers and/or sellers.
  • This year we're starting a bit later on Saturday morning, and providing longer breaks, to give you more time to take care of business.
  • Our registration tool will help you efficiently schedule your time long before you ever get to the community conference.

  3. Rental cars
How do I get around once I'm in New Orleans?
New Orleans offers you many ways to get around town. Parking, however, is tough to find in many areas of New Orleans, particularly the French Quarter. When you're trying to reach points that are not within walking distance, it's best to leave your car behind and rely instead on taxis and public transit.
  1. Airport shuttle
The official ground transportation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers convenient service to and from New Orleans' hotels. Round trip is $26. Tickets may be purchased in the airport's baggage-claim area on the ground floor. You won't need a reservation when you arrive, but you will need one when you're ready to go home. Departure reservations can be made at the time of purchase. Call 866-596-2699 or 504-522-3500.

  2. A Airport Limousine Service
The official airport limo service. They are located in the airport with convenient information booths in the baggage-claim area. Rates: 1-2 passengers, $35; each additional passenger, $10.

  3. Rental cars

  4. Taxis
Taxis are readily available on New Orleans streets and at the major hotels. Taxi rates are $2.50 plus $1.60 per mile. There is also an additional charge of $1 per passenger after the first passenger. A fixed rate of $28 (two people) is charged from the airport to most areas in New Orleans. For parties of three or more from the airport, the fare is $12 per person. Three of the major cab companies are:

    • United Cab 504-522-9771 or 504-524-9606
    • Rollin's Cab 504-486-7655 or 504-488-1234
    • Yellow/Checker 504-525-3311

  5. Bus
New Orleans' public bus system is an inexpensive and reliable means of getting around. Bus routes extend to almost every corner of the city. The fare is $1.25 plus $0.25 per transfer. The express bus costs $1.50.

A Visitour pass is available from the Regional Transit Authority, which gives visitors unlimited rides on all streetcars and bus lines. The pass costs $5 for one day or $12 for three days. Call 504-248-3900.

  6. Streetcar
New Orleans, like San Francisco, is famous for its streetcars. Historic streetcars run two daily routes: the St. Charles Streetcar runs 24 hours a day down St. Charles Avenue from Canal Street to Claiborne Avenue. The Vieux Carre Bus runs the perimeter of the French Quarter from 5am to 7:16pm. Fares for street cars are $1.25 each way plus $0.25 per transfer. In addition, the Riverfront streetcar runs 1.9 miles from Canal Street to Riverview, 6am-midnight weekdays and 8am-midnight weekends. It costs $1.50 plus $0.25 for transfers. Pick up a schedule as soon as you hit town.

Yes, there is indeed a streetcar named Desire. It's route 82 and you can pick it up weekdays and weekends on Canal Street and ride to, of course, Desire.

What services are available for the disabled?
New Orleans has several service centers to support disabled people.
  • Catholic Deaf Center (Voice/TDD)    504-486-6345
  • Deaf Action Center    504-523-3755
  • Lighthouse for the Blind    504-899-4501
  • Specialized transportation Services    504-827-7433
  • Scoot Around    888-441-7575
The Morial Convention Center has five wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you require special assistance covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact us at eBaylive2004@chasemarketing.com by June 12, 2004.

What provision has been made for handicap parking?
Parking for the handicapped is limited but available. The Morial Convention Center maintains 10 handicap parking spaces in a lot across Convention Center Blvd. from Hall I. The daily rate is $10 (as it is for all parking).

Closer in, there are nine handicap spaces available in the Riverwalk shopping mall, across Julia St. from Hall A, one of the eBay Live! venues. These spots are charged hourly and fill up quickly, so it's best to get there early in the morning.

What's the weather like?
New Orleans enjoys a subtropical climate with pleasant year-round temperatures. In June the typical maximum temperature is 90 degrees. The typical minimum 72 degrees.

It's gets humid, though. Bring light, comfortable clothes, with a sweater for evenings. A raincoat and umbrella are also a good idea. Because the French Quarter and the Morial Convention Center are best explored on foot, we recommend comfortable shoes designed for lots of walking.

When is eBay Live! 2004? eBay Live! 2004 will be held June 24-26 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Where can I stay in New Orleans? When registration opens on March 1, we'll provide you with a selection of preferred hotels. We suggest waiting until you register to take advantage of those hotels that will be offering special rates to eBay Live! attendees.

What's the dress code at eBay Live!? The informal dress code for eBay Live! is what's called "business casual" these days. For men, this generally means slacks and a button-down shirt. For women, casual skirts, slacks, blouses, and dresses will fill the bill.
