At the 2004 event, eBay Live! attendees crowded around to hear eBay President and CEO Meg Whitman's "State of eBay" keynote speech. They chatted with eBay execs at a special Q&A session and at informal encounters throughout the conference. They hung out at the Pinks Lounge and partied at Club Cloud Nine during the Gala. And in the most romantic moment of the conference, the eBay Community lined the Solutions Center Expo Hall aisles for an eBay Wedding. Meanwhile, in the packed classrooms, our in-house experts and partners offered training that you simply can't find anywhere else. Our attendees browsed the Solutions Center Expo Hall and saw firsthand the products and services our exhibitors offer to help make your eBay experience more efficient, profitable, and enjoyable. You can go right now to the eBay Live! 2004 Discussion Board to read what people who attended have to say about the event as they share their eBay Live! experiences with the Community.
Education Education is a huge part of eBay Live!, and what could be more fun than learning about what you already love? At eBay Live! 2004, the classes, hands-on computer labs, and roundtable discussions were divided between topics of interest to buyers and sellers. The education tracks were further divided by skill level-all levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Attendees went home with a whole new repertoire of practical information, advice, and techniques that they could apply right away in their buying and selling. Buyers, for example, participated in Category Discussions on everything from Apparel & Accessories to Sports Memorabilia. They learned their way around in "Learn How to Navigate eBay with an Expert" and picked up new skills in "Bid to Win! How to Win and Manage Your Buying on eBay." They also took part in the hilarious "Buyer Showdown!" game, in which contestants competed to see who was the "best buyer". Sellers had a wealth of educational opportunities to choose from. Newer sellers took classes like "Beginning Photography" while our PowerSellers sat in on "Hire the Best! A Tool Kit for Easy and Successful Hiring," "Raising Kids While Making a Fortune on eBay," and "Selecting a Retirement Plan for Your Small Business." There were many classes that benefited everyone-for example, "Reaching Your Full Potential," "The Balancing Act," and "Spoof, spam, and Privacy." And that was just the tip of the iceberg! Here's a full listing of the classes that were available to the Community this year. You can be sure that eBay Live! 2005 will build on the 2004 experience as eBay continues to help Community members reach their goals! With our guidance they quickly planned their weekend with a suggested course schedule of advanced education. Networking Dinners We put groups of people together-eBay enthusiasts with similar passions-and sent them out for a delicious dinner in a city that's famous for its food. In fact, we did everything except pick up the check! An eBay Wedding There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Maggy and Brad said "I do"! The two met on eBay, and Brad sniped Maggy's engagement ring on eBay, so it was only fitting that they be married within the Community that brought them together. Gala and Community Hall of Fame Awards The eBay Community sat down to a buffet dinner, live entertainment, and the Community Hall of Fame Awards ceremony at the closing Gala, which is becoming one of the most anticipated events at our annual conference. The Gala was sponsored by Monster.
Special Offerings Treasure Quest The Treasure Quest included in everyone's conference bag led industrious treasure hunters to this year's editions of our popular Trading Cards and Collector Pins. At each Stamping Station participants received a stamp on their Treasure Quest to mark each step in their journey to completing both sets of collectibles. Executive Q&A This was an informal chat with eBay execs. The intimate setting encouraged eBay Community members to ask questions and to share stories with the team that manages the eBay business. eBay Pals Matching Program Lots of people come to eBay Live! by themselves. If they were game, we matched them up with people who share the same interests. It's one more way of strengthening the eBay Community.
