Why is eBay launching this feature?
We have been asked by members of our Community to provide an easier, faster way to report posts that violate our Board Usage Policy. We believe that this feature will fulfill their needs.
What kind of violations can I report using this feature?
This button should only be used to report posts on eBay's Discussion Boards that violate our Board Usage Policy. Any site related problems or other member violations should be reported using the Customer Support web forms.
Am I required to use this feature? Do I have to report board violations?
No, you are not required to use this feature. We are offering this feature to everyone in the Community, but it is not required that you click on the button and report violations.
Where and how do I report a violation?
A new button that says "Report" will appear next to every post on the discussion boards. In order to report a post as being in violation of our Board Usage Policy you will need to be logged into the Discussion boards, and click on the "Report" button. Once you take this action, you will see a screen that will advise you as to what further action needs to taken to report that specific post. Your browser must be Java Script enabled in order to have access to this feature. Please do not report posts more than once.
Will we see the same buttons on the eBay Chat boards?
No, this feature will only be launched on the threaded discussion boards at this time. These boards are located on the Community Overview page, under the sections, Community Help Boards, Category-Specific Discussion Boards, General Discussion Boards, and eBay Workshops.
What is the expected response of a reported Board Policy complaint?
We feel that with this new technology, we will be able to respond faster to posts that violate the Board Usage Policy. In launching this feature we hope to make it easier for members of the Community to report violations. We will investigate all reports and take appropriate action. Not every post will have action taken against it.
Will I be notified that action has/has not been taken?
At this time, we will be unable to let you know if action has or has not been taken. Reports will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and we will take the necessary action against posts that are in violation of our Board Usage Policy
