How Has eBay Changed Your Life? | ||
Has eBay made a significant impact on your life? For example, has eBay enabled you to greatly change your lifestyle? Did eBay allow you to make a career change? Did you meet your spouse through eBay? If so, please share your story by contacting us at ebaylife@ebay.com. Please note that your correspondence is very important to us; however, due to the volume of email we receive, we are unfortunately unable to reply to each individual personally. The whole time Belinda was growing up, her Dad was always busy because he worked seven days a week. He didn't even get to attend her eighth grade or high school graduations or any of the activities she was involved in at school. "Now, I am 35 years old, I have a computer, and I have a great relationship with my dad, thanks to eBay," Belinda says. "When I first told him about it, he came over and we spent six hours looking at auctions! Now, we buy and sell on eBay TOGETHER. Every Thursday night is our 'eBay night.'" Belinda says it is never too late to develop a relationship with someone you love, even if it's sitting in front of a computer together. "My Dad has a severe heart condition now, and I look forward to every Thursday we spend surfing eBay, because I know that someday we won't be able to. My husband swears he is going to send us to 'eBay anonymous!' " Michael describes himself as a "pack rat." "Have something that is too good to throw away that you don't want? No problem, I'll take it!" he says. Michael had a nice house in a nice neighborhood but he noticed that every nook and cranny was filled with WONDERFUL treasures. "The only thing I could do was to buy a bigger place," he says. He bought a rural site that had previously been used to house chinchillas. "It had lots of nice buildings to keep the chinchillas comfortable in, and now I have those filled with my treasures." When he discovered eBay, he found that he is not the only one who thinks the items he has collected over the years are worth saving. "I'm not in love with ALL these things, I just don't think they should be trashed," he says. "There are so many items that it may take the rest of my life to get these things to all the buyers, but people seem to want them and I can use the space. There's a saying about the person who dies with the most toys WINS. I don't plan to HAVE but I plan to HAVE HAD!" Irene says eBay is the greatest thing to come along since the invention of the computer. "eBay has changed my life and I hope to be with you all forever," she says. Irene found out about eBay through a friend who told her that she was buying unclaimed storage units and then selling the contents on eBay. "I had to check it out for myself," Irene says, "And when I did, I was hooked." Irene started buying books on eBay and then she started selling fast food toys and other items. "At first I wasn't selling too much. Now I am selling more and I have learned what sells and what doesn't. These days, I find myself going to a lot more yard sales to find things that I can sell! My husband said that it has even changed my attitude. I am a much happier person because I can work from home. I have two daughters in school and it was hard for me to work because I drive them back and forth. Thank you for changing my life." |
