Camping OuteBay Style! | ||
(Continued from page A-1) Harli, from Washington State, says that her camping necessity is a First Aid Kit. "I would never be without our "emergency kit," she says. "It contains dried food, water, medical supplies and survival items." Paper and plastic tableware ( plates, cups, utensils) are important to Gary from Gooskia, Idaho. "There's nothing worse than having to wash dishes while camping," he says. "It's nice to just throw them away so you can be free to camp and hike." Li, from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Cathi, from Chatsworth, Georgia, suggest bringing high-tech modern conveniences along on low-tech outings. "I'd bring a laptop...after all, gotta keep up with eBay!" Li says. Cathi agrees. "I've never been camping but if I did I wouldn't wanna be caught without my computer ... or my Mel Gibson poster!" Anna's favorite take-along "item" is her 11-year-old son, Mac. The Grifton, North Carolina resident says, "Mac hammers in all the tent stakes, deep in the ground. "I used to find this annoying, until last Memorial Day when a thunderstorm with high wind gusts came along and our tent was one of the few tents left standing. Now I let Mac pound away on those stakes!" Lindsay, from Romiley, England, suggests roughing it hotel style. "The one (and only) time I went camping was when I was 14," she says. We toured England for 6 weeks and spent most of it in launderettes trying to dry out clothing and bedding. These days, getting back to basics for me means somewhere where room service stops at midnight! |
