eBay's New Insurance Program is Here! | ||
Trading is now safer than ever at eBay! eBay bidders said they wanted insurance added to our SafeHarbor program (eBay's program to ensure safe online trading at eBay), and eBay has responded to their request. In an ongoing effort to ensure bidding with confidence, eBay teamed up with industry-leading insurance carrier, Lloyd's, to provide insurance free of charge to all eBay users in good standing. * The insurance covers qualified items bought on eBay and listed on or after March 1, 1999. Purchases are covered for up to $200, less a $25 deductible. The final value of the item must be greater than $25, and the auction item must be in accordance with eBay's User Agreement. Here's how the insurance program works. If a bidder has sent a seller payment and received nothing in return (or the item received is significantly different than the auction's description), the bidder may elect to use the program. The buyer must register a complaint within 30 days after the auction closes. These are the steps to take to use the insurance program:
A bidder is only allowed to submit one claim per month. The new insurance program provided by eBay is a win-win situation for all eBay users. Bidders benefit by bidding with added confidence, and sellers gain by attracting more security-conscious bidders to their auctions. For specific information on this program, go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/insurance.html *Insurance is provided free for the first six months. All users in good standing are covered, subject to certain exceptions. |
