eBay: Bean Bag Toys

Applause Deserves Applause for This

By Sharon Korbeck

Applause knows a winner when it sees one.

"Toy Story was a huge hit at the box office, and retailers couldn't keep movie-related merchandise on shelves," said Michele Boock, senior director of brand management at Applause. "There's tremendous interest and excitement building for this animated film, and we anticipate the same strong consumer reaction to A Bug's Life product," she added.

In addition to the poseable plush bugs featured on our cover ($20 retail), Applause will produce an entire line of plush, PVC and other lines based on the Disney/Pixar film.

Applause's line includes characters not being done by other manufacturers. While most companies are making toys based on lead characters Flik and Dot, Applause's line includes Heimlich the caterpillar and Dim the beetle.

With Bean Bag toys all the rage, Applause will make mini plush versions of Dot, Flik, Francis, Heimlich and Tuck and Roll ($5 retail).

Plastic products include PVC figures, action figurines, floating squirters, key chains, pencil toppers and children's cups and straws.
