Hello everyone! This month's spotlighted member, vintagearmoire, first heard about eBay in the newspaper and on television. Before she began selling on the site, she read eBay for Dummies to get an idea of how to get started. She began using the site in 2000 and now sells in several different categories including Home & Garden, Needlecraft, and Books. Selling on eBay has enabled her to earn money to fund her voluntary prison book ministry.

vintagearmoire told us she visits the site at least twice each day to check her listings. Her husband and family regularly shop at eBay.  Whenever one of her family members is shopping for something, she tells them, "Check eBay!" Regarding her experiences with buying on the site, she says, “I have had a lot of fun and found some great deals.”

vintagearmoire says part of her strategy for selling is to start and end her listings mid-week so that they run through the whole weekend. Also she does her listing in the evenings when potential bidders are likely to be online. She contacts the winning bidder promptly and ships as soon as payment is received.

When we asked her to share some tips for buying or selling on eBay, she had this to say: “Be prompt and courteous when completing the transaction. New members may want to buy several items first to get a feedback rating prior to selling. I recommend checking out eBay for Dummies or eBay's own Selling Basics tutorial to learn more.”

vintagearmoire says her feedback rating is very important and lets potential buyers know they can bid in confidence.  Also, she added, “eBay's photo hosting service has made adding photos so much quicker and simpler than using an outside service.”

When asked what eBay means to her, vintagearmoire replied, “eBay has given me the opportunity to earn money without having to leave home. Most importantly, it has enabled me to earn money necessary to fund my volunteer ministry.”
