GriffWhat To Do With Emails Requesting Personal Information
by Jim 'Griff' Griffith

Q. I received this request today for my personal info and eBay password, etc.. (see below)
Is it legitimate? I don't want to respond to it unless I can verify that it is authentic.

Thanks.
KMac

Email: "Security Request
Because more people had hacked accounts we need to resubmit your information, for security and protection please complete this form."

A. Hello kmac

No, the request you received was not authentic. Just like in the offline world, there are people online who have mischief on their minds. If you receive any emails of this nature (emails that request that you reply or click a link and provide your password, credit card number, or other personal information), you should simply delete them or forward them to spoof@ebay.com.

Most definitely do not provide your eBay User ID or password to anyone if instructed to do so from an email.

Regards,
Griff
