What To Bring To eBay Live! 2003

It's almost time to leave for eBay Live! By now, I expect that you have your travel plans made, your reservations, and your ticket to get in. Soon it will be time to start packing! What will you want to take with you?

Here are some suggestions.

Pack at least one suitcase with your clothes, toiletries and other necessities. You might also consider a second empty suitcase, perhaps one that folds up into a small package. This one is for things you will want to bring home.

You'll want enough clothing to allow for frequent changes. June days are hot and muggy in Orlando, although it will be air-conditioned inside all buildings. I suggest light, loose clothing, with jackets, sweaters or other tops for indoors. Layers that are easy to shed once outside are ideal.

Sunscreen is a must, even if you tan easily. A hat is a good idea, too. Once the sun goes down, you'll be glad to have something around your shoulders, so those toppers will be used a lot. A folding umbrella or a rain poncho will probably come in handy, as it rains frequently in the summer, but usually only for an hour or so. If you plan to be outdoors at night, some insect repellant will be useful.

Definitely bring a camera! Bring disks, memory sticks or film, as your camera requires. A pocket notebook with a pen will be handy to jot down names, addresses, email addresses, User IDs, etc. Wear pockets or take a small case for business cards you collect and for your own. You'll want to be ready to hand out and accept business cards easily throughout the event.

A tote bag will make life easier for you, as you pick up brochures, give-aways, prizes, and purchases. You will be amazed at how much you will collect as you make your way around the convention center! It's always good to have at least one hand free. The convention center has a food court, so you won't starve or have to leave to find food and beverages, but you may want to tuck a small bottle of water in your tote bag for your convenience. There are also places to sit down when you need to take a breather.

Bring money. In addition to the food court, the eBay-o-Rama store will be open, and you might see something you just must take home with you!

Most importantly, be prepared to take home memories of the most fantastic event you have ever attended! You'll want to remember all the new friends and acquaintances you'll meet--their faces, their voices, and their User IDs, so that when you come across them on eBay, you'll recognize them. You will probably find many of them on the eBay Live! 2003 Board. That's where everyone shared memories and pictures last year, after the first eBay Live! convention in Anaheim, and I expect that it will happen again.

Finally, come with lots of energy, because you will be on the go from morning until night, and you won't even realize how tired you are until it's all over. Then you will start looking forward to eBay Live! 2004!

Editor's note: One thing you probably won't want to bring to eBay Live! is a "parrot"... unless, of course, you're an elf ... Click here to learn more
