Member Spotlight
eBay members are great! Each month, the Member Spotlight will give you a chance to meet and learn more about a member of our community. The range of interests and backgrounds will inspire you. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll find yourself in the spotlight!
eBay member fairygreetings says she started out on eBay over a year ago with items she picked up at some local auctions. She finds selling and buying on the site so much fun and financially rewarding, she told us, "Wow, eBay is where it's at!!" fairygreetings also says she sells toys, T-shirts, and most anything she feels her customers might be interested in. She checks eBay many times a day to list her items and check what other sellers are listing. She is also an avid buyer and keeps a look out for holiday items and DVDs. She says, "with seven grandchildren, eBay is a super great place to shop--no need to battle traffic or find a parking spot!!!" fairygreetings tells us she has bought and sold some unique items. She sold an old surveyor's chain for an elderly man from her town and sent the happy buyer the chain along with its history. He was thrilled when he received the package with the treasure! She also told us that she purchased a reproduction set of items from the Titanic for a 90th birthday gift for a lady who was born on the day the Titanic tragically sank. The lady was delighted with the birthday gift! fairygreetings said she tries to sell her items at a reasonable price and accurate shipping charges. She also changes the categories she lists in now and then. She finds the "Buy It Now" feature very useful, particularly for selling multiple items. When we asked her what tips she would give to people out there who are selling or buying their items, she recommended folks remember to include item numbers and shipping addresses when sending their payments to sellers. Also, remember to ask questions in advance of bidding--waiting until the last minutes to ask the seller a question will not work, she cautioned. She also wanted to remind folks that sellers try their best to help their customers, but that most sellers are usually not online all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. fairygreetings told us she owns and operates a small retirement home and is not always free to leave or to stay away for long periods. eBay has opened up a whole new world for her, as well as the seniors at her retirement home, who are interested in what she sells and where the items are going. The typical breakfast conversation starts with "what sold overnight and where in the world is it going?" She also says selling on eBay has taken some of the financial burden off her by helping her bring in extra money for the fun things in life. We asked fairygreetings to give us a brief description of what eBay means to her. Here is what she said: "eBay means an open door to the world for anyone wishing to increase their income and have fun doing it." We would like to thank fairygreetings for sharing her thoughts and comments with us!
