Access is a monthly column featuring the wit and wisdom of the eBay Community. Focusing on a different topic each month, tips and hints from other members are taken straight from eBay's Discussion Boards.
Members Offer Best Reasons to Shop eBay for the Holidays Have you ever wanted to find a special gift for someone, but didn't know where to start looking? Do you hate venturing out in bad weather on yet another shopping expedition? Does the idea of standing in line at a crowded store make you cringe? You aren't alone! This month we asked eBay members from the Miscellaneous Discussion Board to give us their best reasons for using eBay as their Holiday Shopping destination. Hard to find widget: $8 Being able to find rare or hard-to-find items that loved ones collect and/or wish they had had when they were young. Not having to go to the mall or store and try to find something, wasting a whole day and coming back home empty handed...eBay is almost instant satisfaction. chanchisfea I hate shopping malls, crowds, and people pushing, and ripping things out of your hands or out of your cart. Plus I have to agree with everyone else, about finding things you would not find in a store. gramma911 The best reason for shopping on eBay any time of year: Keeps me from actually working!!!! lol Convenience, convenience, convenience!!!!! Really! whiplash*red Being disabled, I don't have the physical stamina for crowded malls and waiting in long lines while holding bulky packages. With eBay, I can shop worldwide at my desk and the mailman delivers right to my door. :o) ocean-gypsy When I buy on eBay from my friends, I can ask that they ship directly to whoever I bought it for, and I don't have to look at *blech*patooie* paper either, because most of them will wrap it for me if I ask nice!!! Saves me a trip to the Post Office, too! dr.sassenstein Even with a detailed list I hate Christmas shopping in stores -- too many people and I am so sick of the sales people telling me it is "out of stock". It is never out of stock on eBay!! queen*of*the*isle I drew Mom's name in the family drawing last year. No way I could have gotten her favorite perfume on our $25 limit on the street. eBay saved the day. threadkillerrr I'm "over the hill and in the next meadow". Shopping is not a joy for me with all the people pushing and shoving to buy a gift that will invariably end up under the bed, in a closet or...... on eBay. I take into consideration what the people I am shopping for collect or are "into" and I can sit here in my bunny slippers and have fun looking up their gifts. been*there*done*that! I can shop in the comfort, peace (sometimes), and safety of my own little 'puter' world. Get what I want, when I want, at a price I want to pay. Still get my housework, laundry and cooking done. Everything without dressing for the winter cold and trekking to the mall. wvseamer Not having to drag your kids to the store. Not having to get a babysitter to go Santa Shopping! ;) chickieepooh2u This will be my first Christmas on eBay. Already I know what my favorite part will be: Having the best parking spot. All the time, every time! I'll just park my backside right here and shop 'til I drop. mcatlga I HATE shopping, and I really HATE Christmas carols and crowds. VERY good reasons to shop here. Also, there's all my buddies to chat with. trashy*n*scandalous Making friends. I've bought from the same sellers numerous times because I find them to be friendly, honest, and just wonderful people. Can't get that from your local mall. blcatmom The "stores" are always open. raystantz The best reason I can think of is that you don't have to battle with traffic, or drive around for hours in a parking lot looking for a vacant space. the_hollywood_slavic_furball Where else can you spend your eBay Anything Points? And nowhere else will you get that great feedback to help towards that new colored star you've been working so hard for all year long!!! dixiedollie You pretty much have an entire world full of widgets to browse for that hard-to-buy-for person! (eBay.Japan, eBay.Deutche, eBay.UK, eBay.Canada, and so on.) ***o_d_a*** We'd like to thank these members for sharing their comments and wish everyone a very joyous Holiday Season. |
