Use a Clear and Concise Item Title
- Include the number of tickets, seat vicinity, event date and location, plus any unique features of the listing. Search generates more than 75% of purchases made on eBay, thus having your tickets found is key. The listing title is what is searched, so be sure it includes the word "Tickets" and it highlights the artist/team name (Bon Jovi Tickets). Also, you are allowed up to 55 characters (increased from 45 on February 20, 2004), so use as many of them as possible!
Example Listing Title: 2 TICKETS DODGERS @ SF GIANTS 9/26 LBOX 130
Use Item Subtitles to Give More Information About Your Tickets
- Item Subtitles provide an excellent opportunity to offer ticket information (such as seat location and added values like free parking) that you otherwise wouldn't have included in the Listing Title. These 55 characters of additional text make your tickets stand out from the pack. This is an optional $0.50 feature, but one that offers worthwhile enhancement to your listing.
Develop a Professional Listing Template
- Listings should be clean and simple with a very consistent look and feel. Do this by creating a reusable template and taking advantage of HTML. Also, as the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words" - include a venue seating map and/or sightline picture in every listing. Note: When you populate the "Venue Name" field in Item Specifics (the majority of venues are included here), a venue map will automatically be linked into your listing. However, including larger/more detailed venue maps/sightline photos in your listing adds value. To see a quality example of this, visit the Coast To Coast Tickets store here.

Create Detailed Listing Description
- Within your listing provide the event name, date and time, venue name, seat location (section and row) and any information that makes your listing unique. Also, clearly state shipping and payment methods and event cancellation policies.
- Insert a venue sightline photo (photo that shows a detailed view from the seat location). 3rd party providers such as Seat Data offer these services for a minimal fee.
Take Advantage of Immediate Payment
- With Immediate Payment, once the payment from the buyer is confirmed, the listing will end and your PayPal account will be credited with the amount of the sale. Use this free feature for Buy It Now listings to require payment from buyers through PayPal before a listing can end. This is a great tool to sell tickets that are near the event dates and also helps with any non-paying bidder issues.
Sell Last-Minute Tickets With 1-Day Listings
- Use 1-day listings as an effective way to sell last-minute tickets while still being able to use the auction format.
Create Buzz by Starting Your Ticket Auctions at $9.99, No Reserve
- Starting your ticket auctions at a low, no-reserve price enables listings to gain momentum and buyer interest. This strategy increases bidding activity and can increase traffic to all your other ticket listings.
Develop Clear Buyer Friendly Sales Policies
- Having clear policies regarding acceptable payment forms, shipping methods and event cancellation polices are important factors to entice buyers into purchasing your tickets on eBay. Internal studies on eBay demonstrate that sellers who market clear buyer friendly policies on their listings have a higher sell-through rates and enjoy smoother, more profitable transactions.
Time Your Auctions Strategically
- Listing durations should be as long as possible and you should try and have listings end when buyers will be at their computers -- don't have a listing end at 6:00AM in the morning. Also, use the auction scheduling feature and consider paying for a 10-day listing.
Understand Ticket Demand and Market
- Before listing tickets to a specific event, understand when most buyers will be thinking about purchasing tickets for the event and research pricing for similar offerings so you don't set your expectations too high. Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays have the highest amount of bidding activity for tickets!
Utilize Selling Features to Increase Sales Price
- Using the Bold, Category Feature and Gallery selling features has proven to have a favorable impact on price (Bold increases price as much as 16% for tickets and Category Feature increases prices 63%).
Offer a Unique Value Proposition
- As a way to differentiate your offerings and increase their selling price, consider combining tickets to different events (2-for-1), eliminating shipping costs, or adding signed memorabilia, parking or VIP club access.
Cross Promote with an eBay Store
- Every ticket listing should be viewed as an advertisement for all of your eBay Ticket inventory. To increase exposure, create an eBay Store, About Me Page and include a link in all of your item descriptions.
