A stunning 2 ¼ carat diamond ring gets rave reviews!
Carl and his girlfriend Julie both came to their relationship as eBay buyers, so it felt very natural when the two found themselves browsing the site for marquise cut diamond rings. It was around New Year's Eve and the two had already started talking about getting married. When they spotted a beautiful ring, with a center stone of more than two carats, Julie joked that the search was over. She had no idea that she was actually speaking the truth.
Carl went back to the site and bought the ring through Buy It Now a few days later. Since he had bought two cars on eBay, this was not his first big ticket item. He was comfortable with the validity of the ring because the seller had great feedback and the diamond was certified. The value and the reliability of the rating system, he said, far outweighed the draw back of not being able to see the ring in person before purchasing it. He bought a colorless high quality 2¼ carat diamond, with side baguettes equaling about a half a carat, all set in platinum. Plus, there was a 10 day return policy if he didn't like it.
"I paid what I considered after much research to be a bargain price, only a fraction of what people have guessed when they se such a unique, stunning, jaw-dropping ring. "
"If I were in Chicago or New York, I definitely would have checked out the jewelry districts. Even in those cities it's quite possible I would have used eBay, but outside of those cities [eBay's] great. I think I got an equivalent deal,' he said.
The seller sized it for Julie's finger for free and was in great communication with Carl concerning payment and shipping.
Julie, normally an eBay clothing buyer, had no idea of Carl's purchase and kept hunting for a ring. She never really found anything she liked as much. Still, she was quite surprised when, seven months later on a weekend trip to Alexandria Bay, he popped the question with the very ring she had adored.
"I think the words 'serious bling' were mentioned," he said. "She was shocked. She loves it!"

People are always stopping Ingrid to ask where she got her engagement ring
Strangers are always stopping Ingrid to ask where she got her engagement ring. "When I tell them eBay, they're surprised," she said. "People don't know to go on eBay for engagement rings and jewelry! I tell everyone."
And for good reason! Ingrid and her now husband, Darrell, were ready to pay $22,000 for a ring at a national jewelry store until she discovered eBay. While browsing, she saw The Ring: it had a 2 carat center stone and 34 diamonds sidestones, totaling 1.5 carats. The Buy It Now price: $6,000! The value of the ring has since been appraised by a local jeweler for $30,000.
"It's beautiful," she said. She emailed the jeweler with questions and checked the seller's feedback, which was great. So they bought it. The service was wonderful. "Not only did they call to verify that it was indeed us who had made the purchase, but they sent us a link so we could watch it travel," she said.
For her wedding at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Ingrid accessorized her gorgeous ring with another eBay purchase: a $1,800 Mori Lee wedding dress that she purchased for just $86. Now that's happy bidding!

Impeccable service and a great deal on a beautiful diamond ring.
When Tony took his girlfriend shopping for an engagement ring, he was shocked by the "out of control" prices at the local Austin jewelers. So he visited the online sites of traditional diamond retailers, but found the same story.
Luckily for Tony, a friend's wife suggested he look on eBay. Tony had bought and sold cars on the site with great success, but he had never considered looking there for a ring.
When he saw the selection and the prices of rings on eBay, he was stunned again - this time in a good way. He searched only high volume jewelry sellers, and found a beautiful 1.5 carat round-cut diamond ring. He bid on the ring and got it for a bargain.
"I can't even imagine getting a better deal," he says. "It's as clear and good as any of the diamonds I saw locally and was half the price."
And the service was impeccable. The seller sized the ring for him before sending it, so it was ready for the big proposal. Two days before the anniversary of their first date, he bought roses and champagne, started a fire in the fireplace and then met her in the garage after she came back from an outing with her friends, blindfolded her and popped the question!
How'd she like the ring?
"She loves it!" he said.

The perfect 50th anniversary present found on eBay.
Mary's wedding ring saga dates back to 1955, when her then boyfriend, Jim, returned from the service and proposed. He didn't have much money, but he managed to scrape enough together to buy Mary the wedding ring of her dreams: a band with diamonds across the top.
But three years later, a fire broke out in their new home and they lost everything, including the ring. Over the next 40 years, Jim bought Mary lots of new rings, but she never wore them. "I just never wanted another ring," she said.
Mary's son introduced her to eBay after she and Jim retired. They were downsizing and lots of stuff to sell. Mary got hooked and it's a good thing. Through eBay, she finally found a ring that looked just like her wedding ring!
"When it came close to our 50th anniversary, I said to Jim as a joke, 'Why don't you look on eBay for my ring.' I dialed up eBay and just put in 'rings.' He got on and I showed him how to go through. I was in the other room and all the sudden he lets out a big yell and calls me to come in there and he shows me this ring and we can't believe it. It's the exact ring. It was my size. Size 6. It's spooky. I just cried and cried and cried."
When the ring arrived in an envelope, Mary was nervous to open it. She unwrapped the beautiful velvet casing and found the ring, in perfect condition. The jeweler says it belonged to another family, but not in Mary's mind. That very same day, she wrote the following in a note to the jeweler: "I got [the ring] today, have it on, and I swear, it feels like it's been there the entire 50 years. Thanks so much, Mary"

She loves the ring and she loves him!
Looking at engagement rings at a local Boston jeweler made Michael start sweating, and it wasn't because of any commitment issues. "It was from fear of getting ripped off," he said. Even with a 20 percent discount, offered because they were friends of the owners, he was unsatisfied with the size and quality of diamond he could get for $3,500.
That's when Michael thought of eBay. eBay had helped Michael make it through other important milestones with his wallet intact. He started buying on the site after purchasing his first home. So he went back to the site, "which is where my search often starts and sometimes ends."
He was hunting for a solitaire diamond with baguettes. He saw lots of rings and found one late one night, after Sara, his school teacher girlfriend, had gone to sleep. The bidding was set to end at 10 a.m. the next morning. He thought it was perfect but wanted to be sure, so he printed out the pictures on large photo quality paper and left them on his desk, where he knew she would see them before leaving early the next morning. When he woke, he found her stamp of approval on a sticky note: "I LOVE THIS AND I LOVE YOU."
Michael called the sellers, a family business, to ask about the ring. "They said it was beautiful and they had all been taking turns trying it on," he said. He also saw that the seller had lots of positive feedback, were bonded, square trade - all the necessary safeguards. And finally, there were several photos of the diamond's GIA certificate.
"Finally, before I made the bid, I went on bluenile.com, which is a wedding ring site, and I tried to recreate the exact ring, with the same color, cut and clarity of the diamond. The center stone itself was $4,200," he said. "So I knew was getting a deal."
He bought the ring on a Tuesday and it arrived at his office on Friday. When he took it to a jeweler to get it resized, he asked him to appraise it. The estimated value: $5,500 to $6,000! That very same day he proposed to his lucky lady in the Boston Public Gardens.
