Welcome to the IT Asset Recovery Center, a showcase of asset recovery and remarketing providers on eBay. These independent providers help turn old or idle PCs, peripherals, networking gear, telephone systems, and other IT assets into cash.

The providers listed here are all members of the eBay Trading Assistants program, which means they know how to move equipment on eBay.

Why IT asset recovery?

Millions of businesses have old or idle PCs, telephone systems, and other IT equipment that is just taking up space when it could be making them money. In fact, Gartner analysts expect almost 100 million PCs to be replaced in 2004 and nearly 120 million more to be replaced in 2005.

Why should asset owners incur costs to store old equipment when they could be remarketing it and using the proceeds to help finance new systems? This amounts to savings in three areas: savings in storage costs, savings by avoiding recoverable value decline, and ultimately savings by avoiding the disposal costs for those items which are never remarketed.

The owner of the assets has two main choices that take advantage of the demand on eBay: sell the equipment directly, or locate an asset recovery provider who can sell it. This center has been developed to help facilitate the latter.

How to find an IT asset recovery provider

It's simple. Just click on Find a Provider to search the IT Asset Recovery Center directory. You can search by zip code or equipment specialty. Each profile lists services, fees, and contact information. You can then contact the IT asset recovery provider directly and establish a working arrangement.

The IT Asset Recovery Center also features software and services solutions to help you to more easily inventory, assess, and list assets that you might want to sell directly or on behalf of another asset owner.

How to become an IT asset recovery provider

This program is open to any eBay community member. What you need to do to join the program is to complete the following steps, in the following order.

1. Become a Trading Assistant

2. Specify in your Trading Assistant profile that you sell in the Computers & Networking category

3. Specify in your Trading Assistant profile that you provide IT Asset Recovery services

We also recommend the following:

• Include in your Trading Assistant profile as many relevant, specific capabilities that you offer (e.g. outbound logistics, data removal, on-site inspection for lots of a certain size, testing and diagnostic services, consignment, outright purchase, environmentally safe disposal, etc.)

• Evaluate the software and services solutions showcased on this page. These solutions can help you to inventory, assess, and list assets that you might want to sell directly or on behalf of another asset owner.
