| Announcing the Launch of Item Specifics in Antique Furniture
Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing the new Item Specifics feature in the Furniture category in Antiques. Item Specifics is an eBay feature that allows sellers to provide additional details about their item during the selling process. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search, thus finding these items more quickly and easily . Now Furniture sellers will be able to distinguish their offerings by details such as Product (e.g., Armoire,) Age (e.g., pre-1900), Style (e.g., Victorian), Region of Origin (e.g., English), and Original / Reproduction. Sellers can choose to include Item Specifics in their listing or not; likewise, buyers can choose whether or not to search using these attributes or to use regular Title and Description searches. However, we believe the feature provides significant value to both buyers and sellers. How do I use it? As a seller, you can select the appropriate Item Specifics through most normal listing processes. If you list items through the Sell Your Item form, Turbo Lister or another eBay tool, you will see the new options as soon as they launch. Most other tools support Item Specifics as well; if your 3rd party tool or PSP does not, you should contact them immediately to request this support. As a buyer, you will see the Furniture Product Finder on the left hand side of the page when you are shopping in the Antique Furniture category. You can just select the values you wish to search by in the drop-down menus and click "Show Items" at the bottom of the Product Finder. For more information about Item Specifics, please refer to our FAQs:
Sellers will be able to list using Item Specifics on April 28, 2004. The ability for buyers to search by Item Specifics will be available on May 5. We believe Item Specifics will make finding items easier on eBay and help increase sales in the categories where the feature is enabled.
