It's All AboutMe!
As retailers have known for years, the secret of selling is merchandising. So put your best face forward! Your "AboutMe" page is a free billboard where you can showcase your entire line of products and make a strong first impression. And beauty is more than skin deep—an eye-catching store will sell more product.

Here are some tips for enhancing your AboutMe page:
  • Don't bury your best stuff! Focus on the area "above the fold" — the screen area buyers see first before scrolling down.
  • Give them some eye candy! Graphics work so use photos or graphics of items that link to actual product. Don't simply list the types of products you sell—make each picture a hot link.
  • Don't lose them! Once they land on your page, don't confuse visitors with a clutter of items. Feature one item prominently — such as a "Hot Buy" or "Deal of the Week."
  • Make contact! List your phone number and contact info prominently so buyers can reach you with easily.
  • Keep them clicking! Organize your merchandise into a clickable index for easier navigation.
  • Tell them what to do! Pepper the page with numerous calls to action such as "Bid Now" or "Buy Now."
  • Don't be afraid to look slick! A well-designed, beautiful site will move more product. If you've invested in a logo or branding feature it prominently as part of your overall design.
Your "AboutMe" page is the first place buyers go when they want to find out more about the seller. But it's also your best opportunity to drive sales and cross-sell products. Don't overlook this critical selling tool that helps you stand above the crowd and increase sales.

unitedtraders (537) United Traders
Brand new designer threads for a stitch of the cost. That's the model Randy Hadeed used to turn United Traders into an eBay Wholesale Lots success story. Since it started selling on eBay a year ago, United Traders has seen profits grow 300%.  Randy's secret? Selling large lots of new, high-quality items, efficient processing, and trusting the market to set the price.

Randy has always understood the intricacies of eBay. He started out selling antiques and was so successful eBay approached him about helping other sellers. Now he's managing a staff of twenty-five.  The driving force behind United Traders' dramatic growth has been their move toward Wholesale business-to-business sales on eBay.  This year, they began selling significant quantities of men's, women's and children's apparel in eBay's Wholesale Lots category, all supplied by major east coast department stores. The designer apparel is all new, with the tags still on, inlcuding names like Claiborne, Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger and Nine West, among others. "People are always asking, ïWhat's the catch?' There isn't one. It's all quality merchandise. No gimmicks. No fine print," says Randy.

But quality product is only half the story.  Randy understood early on that the most effective way to move the vast quantities of liquidation merchandise coming from his department store suppliers was to tap into eBay's army of small re-sellers looking for large amounts of inventory at wholesale prices.  He offers merchandise up in Wholesale Lots, with every auction starting at $1 with no reserve price, This approach often results in 20 or 30 bids for a single listing, and ensures good returns for his suppliers as well as great deals for the buyers, who are paying 10% of retail costs in some cases. .

Randy's staff is now running over 200 wholesale auctions simultaneously. He believes one of his main secrets to success is the ability to develop a system to manage effectively. "Work flow is key from the time the tractor trailers roll in with the merchandise to the time we ship it out again." Clearly, United Traders has found a winning combination of process, product, and price, moving Wholesale Lots on eBay.
